Meka Pro's Sustainable Solar Solutions Empower Finland's Energy Future

As the demand for solar energy continues to rise in Finland, Meka Pro’s sustainable solar solutions are playing a crucial role in shaping the country’s energy production. In an interview with Valtteri Vuollekoski , Meka Solar Product Manager, we explore the current state of solar energy in Finland, future prospects , and how Meka Pro’s product development supports sustainable energy production.

Solar energy challenges and opportunities

According to Vuollekoski, this year’s demand for solar energy divided among different sectors. He explains, “On the residential side, the financial situation and electricity prices will influence investment decisions for many households this summer.” However, he sees significant growth potential in the power generation sector, especially for megawatt-class power plants and self-consumption businesses. Vuollekoski highlights the upcoming energy directive that will gradually steer the market towards solar energy, stating, “New houses will practically require solar panels to achieve zero emissions.”

Nordic PV System – high quality and reliable

Understanding the increasing demand for high-quality solar panel systems, Meka Pro is committed to developing products that prioritize ease of installation, cost-effectiveness, and durability. “All our mount systems are Eurocode compliant,” he continues. The product manager also mentions that Meka conducts tensile tests on components in its own laboratory to ensure the durability and reliability of the products. “Our racks are made of Finnish steel and are designed to withstand the harsh Nordic conditions, such as snow and wind loads,” Vuollekoski explains about the design of the ground panel system. Nonetheless, the ground mounting system, suitable up to corrosion class C4, guarantees a long service life. “The idea is that the ground mounts will last from generation to generation, and as panels are upgraded to new ones, the same mount will continue to function. It is not about a disposable product, but about quality that lasts over time,” Vuollekoski emphasizes.

Comprehensive Rack Packages and Strong Product Support

“We at Meka currently have ready-made packages designed for 12- and 24-piece panels,” Vuollekoski shares. These packages cater to different setups, including a package for a concrete foundation or a screw pile, and a piled model with all the necessary components. “Customers can also tailor their stand packages to suit their needs for even the largest sites. It is always possible to get a quote,” he tips. Vuollekoski also highlights the unique features of the products, among which he mentions the C-profile used as the main component. The perforated C-profile allows for slight positional adjustments, accommodating uneven terrains.

The Nordic PV System’s acclaimed SC bracket allows panels to be installed from underneath. This feature attracts significant positive interest as it reduces the risk of micro-fractures during installation. “These features facilitate installation and increase safety,” says Vuollekoski. Indeed, the construction of the racks has been widely praised as durable and easy-to-install.

However, Meka Pro still takes good care of product support. According to Vuollekoski “Meka offers technical support and Meka’s salespeople know the system well.” For more in-depth assistance, Vuollekoski personally provides product support. “You are able to install the kit yourself: simply order the kit and we will provide you with comprehensive instructions. We also have installation example videos available on YouTube, with new ones being added regularly,” explains the Product Manager.

The future of solar energy

Finland aims for over 50% renewable energy production by 2030, according to Motiva, the state-owned sustainable development company. For a country of Finland’s size, large solar parks are essential for significant renewable energy output. “It would be in everyone’s interest to support Finnish steel and Finnish labor in the case of large solar parks. It would be good to have a sustainable solution from Finland,” Vuollekoski hopes. “A lot of solar energy is needed to reach this goal, and we at Meka Pro want to be part of this development. We are proud of it,” Vuollekoski says enthusiastically.
