Load Testing (IEC 61537)
Meka Pro measures the safe workload of the cable management systems and corresponding deflection in accordance with the IEC 61537 standard. The safe workload (SWL) is a load [kg/m] that creates a deflection of 1/100 in the span, or if a 1/100 deflection is not achieved, it is the force that creates a permanent deformation divided with the safety factor, which is 1.7. According to the standard, a safe workload may not cause visible (incl. corrective vision but without magnification) damage or cracking to the cable management systems, including its joints and attaching parts. The cable management systems must return to their original state after the safe workload has been removed.
Comparable Load Results
Meka Pro’s stated load results have been measured with a calibrated testing device. Meka Pro’s testing method is certified according to the standard IEC 61537. Meka Pro’s load results are comparable with results from other cable management systems measured with the same method.
Ensure the Load Bearing Capacity of the Entire System
Cable management systems also include other parts than cable ladders and trays, which means the weakest point of the system may be some other part than a cable ladder or tray. For example, the allowed load for a support may be smaller than that of the attached cable ladder. The IEC 61537 standard also includes instructions for testing support strength. Flexibility in the system may also limit the load on the cable management system, despite the longer parts and supports being able to support a greater load. The IEC 61537 standard only allows a deflection that is 1/100 of the span. This consideration is present in Meka Pro’s load diagrams.
