First choice for oat mills: Wire Mesh Trays

In addition to wheat, barley and rye mills in Utajärvi construction of a new oat mill begun in the summer of 2017. This 9,5 million € project includes also grain storing, receiving and packaging facilities.

Being in action for half a century, the mill´s principle has been to use local pure Nordic grains. For plants the Nordic summer´s light plays an important role. Abundant natural light prolongs oat´s time of photosynthesis in a day. Many causes of plant diseases and pests freeze during the long and cold winter.

The mill finished in the summer of 2019 is a pure oat mill. Therefore, oat that is naturally gluten-free will stay gluten-free in the future. The purity of oats is secured and ensured during the whole supply chain, from fields to bag and from mill to shelfs.

Jouni Salonen, CEO of Sähkövaltti Oy (the company responsible for the electrical construction of the site) introduced us to the mill´s modernized and automized facilities. In April 2019 when we got a permission to visit, the electrical work of the site was nearly done and first mill tests in action had already begun.

Wire Mesh Trays for food and beverage industry

The 7-floor oat mill works almost fully automatically. Its facilities are overpressurized which means that air escapes from the building when, for example, the doors are opened. Overpressurizing prevents pollen and other impurities from entering indoors. For a modern mill and its cables, the natural choice according to final designs was wire mesh trays. “But I chose Finnish Meka rather than the initially planned competitor”; reveals Salonen. “Thank you for trusting us”, praises Jyrki Rekilä, the sales manager of Northern Finland.

Acid proof wire mesh tray is an excellent solution for food industry because it is easy to clean and WMTs have little surface areas that collect dirt and other impurities.

Vertical wire mesh trays

On the customer’s request all wire mesh trays were installed vertically because it minimizes dust collecting surfaces. “The installation went smoothly overall, but there were some problems with CL1 connector plates because of the vertical installation.” evaluates Salonen.

Optimizing use of space

Wire Mesh Trays WMT are light and easy to modify for different spaces. Therefore, it is a great choice for complicated and multidimensional cable management systems. The oat mill is a great example of this. Narrow wire mesh trays were chosen for routing cables for modern machines and equipment.
